At The Law Offices of Joseph R. Leone, our concentration on Family Law means that we also have many years of experience in assisting clients with the changing or modifying of existing court orders, and with bringing forward complaints for contempt where one of the parties has failed to abide by a court order. For example, a court may issue orders in the context of a divorce, in a matter to establish paternity, in an action for separate support (a “legal separation”), or in a matter where the parties are not married and one of the parties needs orders regarding custody, visitation and support. Where circumstances change, those orders may need to be changed and we have assisted thousands of clients in doing so with successful results. Conversely, our knowledge of the process and the laws and standards that apply in modification and contempt cases has enabled us to defend against actions to modify court orders and complaints for contempt with equal success.

Our lawyers have many years of experience in assisting clients with matters to establish paternity. A paternity case is commenced when a client seeks to establish that another individual is the biological parent of their child, and to obtain court orders such as an order for child support or to establish legal and physical custody of the child. It may also be brought forward where a client seeks an order that they are the biological father of a particular child, and for orders regarding a parenting plan or visitation schedule or for legal or physical custody of that child. In other instances, paternity may already have been established and there may be a need to obtain orders regarding custody and support or visitation (a parenting plan).
